The design and operation of modern knowledge, monitoring, production and transport systems is heavily reliant of efficient algorithms and their efficient implementation on distributed computing platforms. Software and Computer Engineers can adopt, combine and tune existing software for various IT applications on stand-alone or distributed computer systems.

They are aware of the inherent limitations and dangers of unrestricted information gathering, mining and distribution. In their particular area of expertise they can conduct research activities, initially under supervision of experienced academics.

In all natural Sciences, many fields of social sciences and even the humanities rigorous methods based on mathematical formalisms including stochastics have become indispensable tools for analysis and predictions. Biomedical Engineers combine biological knowledge and engineering skills to do research, define, develop, resolve, and give ethical value to problems in health care.

Biomedical Engineers may work as researchers and designers of new biomedical equipment, as consultants for biomedical technology and hospital management, as managers, technical advisers, or as project engineers in the modernization of technological hospital equipment.

Physics is related to other areas such as biomedical engineering, renewable energy resources, solar energy, nonrenewable energy such as oil and its derivatives, and the application of nanotechnology in this type of resources based on theories and application of physics.

Nano Engineering Department

Nano devices of solid materials, optoelectronic materials, thin film structures and manufacturing of the corresponding devices, solar cells, and LED technology and energy efficiency.

A Nanotechnology Engineer is the professional with strengths to propose and analyze the quality of nanostructured products, micro devices and micro machines. A nanotechnology engineer is a consultant for projects in nanotechnology and nanomaterials, or a technological delegate in companies that develop and produce equipment using nanotechnology.

The field of study for Nanotechnology Engineering is in the interface of chemistry, physics, biology, physiology, mechanical and electrical engineering, mathematics and materials science. The field of work seeks integration and correlation of properties of nanosystems with systems of cells and tissues.

We aim to combine in our research effort and teaching the traditional areas of chemistry: physical, organic, inorganic and analytical, into a seamlessly view of fundamental molecular sciences that provide the understanding at the molecular level of complex processes and systems.

Petrochemical and Polymer Engineering Department

Our effort is directed to combining research and teaching oriented to a molecular understanding of chemical processes with a view in engineering applications in the area of valorization of products from the oil and energy industry, specially polymer and petrochemical engineering, oil refining technics, petro-products, material synthesis and properties.

An engineer in petro-chemistry is capable of intervening and designing processes in the whole span of the petro-chemical industry including the entire scale of products derived from oil, natural gas and other synthetic products.

Petro-chemistry engineers may work in:
Management of construction plans for petrochemical plants, storage and commercialization of petrochemical products, plant designing, and designing of product elaboration.

Examining petrochemical plans, monitoring quality control, plant care and health, doing studies regarding climate change.

Geology is the science in charge of studying rocks, fossils and minerals present in the earth’s crust and surface, as well as processes that create, modify or affect these. Geology is a science extremely applied to problems in society with a high level of theoretical and experimental demand.

Geologists may be able to develop: exploration and exploitation of mineral, energy and water resources; helping in the territorial planning and construction of structures of general interest such as dams or roads; informing about seismic, volcanic or hydrological risks by providing information about the creation and dynamics of internal and external processes that create them; trying to explain mechanisms, structure and evolution of Earth, its relief and biodiversity.
