English as Medium of Instruction (EMI) Practice and Possibilities

John McKeown, Director of the English Language Program (ELP) at Yachay Tech, is the former Director of the English Language Preparatory Program at the newly established MEF University (Istanbul), the only university worldwide to have adopted a flipped classroom approach across all disciplines, including language learning. John has served in various capacities as teacher, administrator, and consultant in Canada, Angola, Turkey, Qatar, the UAE and UK. He is an experienced IB international school administrator.

 

Previously, he was ELT Senior Lecturer at the University of Konya, and Assistant Professor/Head of Teaching Practicum at the University of Bahrain Teachers College.  He has managed a number of quality assurance and school reform projects as Senior Director of Academics for Mosaica Education in the Arabian Gulf. His research currently focuses on aspects of educational cultural frameworks, blended learning adaptations, and second language learner efficacy.
