Born in Havana, Cuba, Dr. Vispo is an Cuban biotechnologist who got his Laurea in Biology at Havana University one of the most traditional universities in Cuba. He obtained his PhD in Biology in 1997 after a combined research performed at the Biology Dept of the Torvergata University in Rome (Italy) and the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology in Havana Cuba.
Hugo Romero-Saltos, who joined Yachay Tech in March 2014, earned his Ph.D. in Biology (2011) from the University of Miami studying the functional ecology of a community of lianas (woody vines) in the lowland tropical rainforest of Yasuní, Ecuador.
