Professor Juan Pablo Saucedo Vázquez obtained a PhD in Chemical Sciences from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (Prof. Martha Sosa group, UNAM, México) and in 2012 focused on the study of reaction mechanism of the oxidative dehydrogenation of amines activated by iron(III) in coordination compounds.

Hortensia M. Rodríguez obtained a B.Sc. in Radiochemistry from the Superior Institute of Science and Nuclear Technology (ISCTN, Cuba) (1991-1996). She then joined the Laboratory of Organic Synthesis of Faculty of Chemistry University of Havana (Cuba) and got a M.Sc. in 1999. In 2006 finished her Ph.D., focused on develop of non-conventional methods to the synthesis of bioactive heterocyclic compounds, which was awarded the best qualification (“Cum Laude”).

Filipe Areias obtained a B.Sc. in Biochemistry from the University of Coimbra (UC, Portugal) in 1996. He got a M.Sc. in the Department of Pharmacognosy of Faculty of Pharmacy of University of Oporto (UP, Portugal) in 1999. In 2006 he finished his Ph.D., focused on the synthesis of heterocyclic nitrogen compounds with biological activity in the Chemical and Biological Centres of University of Minho (UM, Portugal).

Manuel Caetano received his PhD degree in sciences, from Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV) in Caracas, Venezuela. His dissertation was entitled: “Basic and applied studies of microwave induced plasmas”.

Floralba López obtained her undergraduate degree in Chemistry from the University of Los Andes (ULA, Venezuela) in 2000. She then attended the Physics graduate program at the Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC, Venezuela) and got an M.Sc. in 2005.
