YOUNG STUDENT FROM YACHAY TECH TO REPRESENT ECUADOR AT YOUTH OPPORTUNITIES “GLOBAL AMBASSADOR 2021”

Amanda Ulloa, a Yachay Tech student of the School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences, was selected to represent Ecuador in the “Global Ambassador 2021” program of Youth Opportunities, an organization made up of young people from 130 countries.

The goal of the program is to build leading youth communities, to help young people around the world find and make the most of all the international opportunities available to them.

Amanda learned about the call while looking for exchange opportunities, and discovered Youth Opportunities (https://www.youthop.com/about), an organization that is responsible for facilitating access for young people to different scholarship opportunities, exchanges and volunteering abroad, among other programs.

The application phase consisted of sending the profile to pass the first pre-selection stage. Then, she had interviews where she was able to share her experience, her aspirations and how she could contribute to Youth Opportunities.

As the only young woman selected in the country, her role will be basically to serve as the direct link between Youth Opportunities and Ecuador to facilitate access to opportunities for young Ecuadorians.

Some of the benefits that Amanda Ulloa will obtain include accumulating experience in an international work environment, while she leads projects with people of diverse origins and cultures, and assisting and representing Ecuador and Youth Opportunities in different national and international programs.

She will also have the opportunity to learn from world leaders and connect with them, and receive certificates upon successful completion of the 1-year period, which will end in December 2021, as well as nominations to participate in different programs.

“As an ambassador, some of my responsibilities are to plan and organize different campaigns and programs to ensure access to opportunities in Ecuador; manage the Youth Opportunities platform for our country; and collaborate and forge partnerships with different student bodies, youth groups and social organizations to undertake mutually beneficial programs,” Amanda mentioned.

“My training at Yachay Tech played a big part in being selected. As an internationally-recognized University, they did not hesitate to ask about my experience at Yachay Tech. They took into account the extracurricular projects I have worked in, as well as being part of the group of mentors, the organization of events and the advanced level of English that Yachay Tech students have,” she added.

Once she concludes the program, she will take advantage of these connections and opportunities to give her professional life an international boost, while getting Yachay Tech’s and Ecuador’s name out there.

Amanda urged Yachay Tech students and the country “not be afraid to search and try, the opportunities are there and they wait for you.”

Yachay Tech confirms its commitment to provide a high-quality scientific education, with international standards that allows its students to join world programs to expand their opportunities for professional and personal development.
