147 STUDENTS FROM THE COUNTRY WHO CHOSE A SPOT IN YACHAY TECH PARTICIPATED IN THE INAUGURATION OF THE LEVELING TERM

The President of the Supervisory and Institutional Strengthening Commission of Yachay Tech University, José María Lalama, PhD, held the virtual inauguration of the Leveling II Semester 2020 and welcomed the 147 students who accepted a spot for the different majors of the University.

The event was attended by the University authorities: Arturo Clery Aguirre, PhD (Chancellor / Academic Vic-Rector); María José Calderón Larrea, PhD (Vice Chancellor of Research); the deans: Juan Ruano, PhD; Jiri Svozilik, PhD; Antonio Acosta, PhD. Paola Ordoñez, PhD; Markus Tellkamp, PhD and Lenin Jácome, PhD, School Services Coordinator.

José María Lalama, PhD., President of the Commission and Rector of the University, was in charge of the inauguration. He welcomed the students and stated: “Greetings from the authorities. As you know, we are going through a difficult time, yet Yachay is inaugurating a new academic cycle. We welcome our future researchers, students who have the academic obligation to promote and do science. Yachay is the only institution of higher education where we do science from the college level. Our graduates are in some of the best universities of the world doing postgraduate degrees. As authorities of this Alma Mater, we are proud to have such quality of students. We have professors of excellent academic level, whom have made Yachay Tech one of the best universities in Ecuador and Latin America. Feel proud to be part of this great family, we wish you success in this leveling semester”.

The new leveling term has students from 19 provinces of Ecuador, of which Pichincha and Imbabura are the ones with the highest representation number wise. In addition, two of the students who entered Yachay Tech come from the High-Performance Group (GAR): Elián Vicente García Peñarrieta from Guayas with 1000 points and Alan Israel Palma Travez from Cotopaxi, with 964 points.

The academic leveling term will begin on April 19 and end on August 18, 2021, through virtual classes and videoconferences. Fundamentals of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Writing and Reading Comprehension and English will be taught.

It is worth mentioning that until they reach the 4th semester students obtain level B2. On their 6th level they take academic English, which they need for their scientific publications and, finally they take the internal language proficiency exam, which demonstrates higher levels with C1 and C2. The University certificate is accepted by international institutions for pre-professional practices, internships, and postgraduate programs.

The Yachay Tech Leveling seeks to provide equal opportunities for students to access quality higher education, as well as strengthen the development of the skills and abilities necessary for the professional success of university students in the country.
