TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY STUDENTS ARRIVE AT YACHAY TECH

On Wednesday, October 23, Yachay Tech University welcomed the new group of students who will begin their leveling course and first semester in order to enter one of the ten majors offered by Yachay Tech.

The ceremony took place at the traditional Plaza del Ingenio and included several authorities from the University as well as Vanessa Terán, Zone 1 Coordinator of the Secretary of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation of Imbabura.

 

Frank Alexis, Ph.D., Chancellor, was in charge of giving the welcome speech to the 240 students, who will be studying in Urcuquí for the following 5 years. Lastly, the Rector, Hermann Mena, Ph.D., addressed the students and highlighted the importance of continuing attracting students to Yachay Tech and of training them in the field of scientific research.

 

The event was also attended by Graciela Salum, Ph.D., Vice Chancellor of Research and Innovation, and the deans of the schools of Biological Sciences and Engineering; Chemical Sciences and Engineering; Earth Sciences, Energy and Environment; Physical Sciences and Nanotechnology; and Mathematical and Computational Sciences.

 

This will be the eleventh cohort of students, whom shall be graduating in 2024. These students come from seventeen provinces of the country, and include 94 women and three students from the High Performance Group (GAR in Spanish).
