Universidad Yachay Tech organizes an Oil Symposium

The Symposium will be on Enhanced Oil Recovery Techniques.

Yachay Tech University is organizing the Symposium and Workshop on Enhanced Oil Recovery Techniques. The event will take place on November 19 and 20 at the facilities of Yachay E.P., in Urcuquí, and will have the participation of national and international strategists and experts with vast experience in the oil sector. In this framework, Yachay Tech will sign an agreement with Petroamazonas E.P. seeking to link the research work of the University with the needs of the productive sector.

The Symposium and Workshop on Enhanced Oil Recovery Techniques will have four open sessions and a workshop for all the attendees. The first talks will explore the national energy and oil scenario and the use of technology to improve it. The sessions will continue with the presentation of technologies for enhanced oil recovery and will conclude with the creation of a network for Research, Development and Innovation (I&D+i) on energy and oil. The objective of the network is to optimize the use of resources and promote interinstitutional cooperation, and will comprise public and private organizations of higher education, research, science and technology, and the oil industry.

Dr. Eduardo V. Ludeña, Rector of Yachay Tech, explained that the technologies for the application of enhanced oil recovery can contribute to the increase of tax revenues in billions of dollars. These technologies would be a good example of how research can respond to the demands of the productive sector to promote an economy based on knowledge.

The Symposium of Enhanced Oil Recovery and the Workshop of Technological Strategy are part of the new strategic line of research on oil, nanotechnology, and catalysis, which seeks to ensure production, processing, and income for the nation.
