Reliance on the Visual Field for Different Postural Tasks

Catherine studied Biomedical Engineering at Imperial College (IC) London (Master’s 2011). After working at IC’s Center for Bio-Inspired Technology on the electrochemical characterization of neural interfaces, she obtained her PhD in 2016 from Université Paris-Sud. Her thesis research (collaboration between the Universities of Paris and of Aix-Marseille and the company Essilor International) examined how preferential use of visual cues for spatial orientation influences sensorimotor control in standing and walking, and investigated the mechanisms whereby old adults rely more on the visual frame of reference in multisensory integration. Catherine is now a Research Associate at the Institute of Vision in Paris (Université Pierre & Marie Curie) where she is investigating postural and gaze behavior during a navigation task in young and old adults.
