Biografía

Consuelo is an English educator from Pujilí, Cotopaxi, Ecuador. She earned her first degrees as an Expertise in English Language, and as a Bachelor of Science with English concentration from Ambato Technical University, Ecuador. After graduating, she began her teaching career as a high school teacher. In 2007, she continued her studies at Army Polytechnic to get a Diploma in Teaching English as a Second Language. This allowed her to teach not only in primary schools and high schools, but also at the university level.  Thus, she has been working as an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) educator for nine years in different public and private institutions. In 2013, she obtained a scholarship sponsored by the Ecuadorian government, and was a participant in Cohort 3 of the Go Teacher Program at Kansas State University, USA. In the following year, her passion for learning encouraged her to apply for a second scholarship, and be part of the Ecuadorian Master Program. Therefore, she graduated from the Master Program in Curriculum and Instruction with TESL concentration at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas, USA.

Currently, she is a professor in the English Language Department at Yachay Tech University. She teaches English and works as a level coordinator where she demonstrates commitment to planning meaningful coursework that contains teaching methods to enhance English language skills, engage students, and expedites learning. Her current teaching position has provided her opportunities to continue with her lifelong learning and sharing experience as a new writer and presenter.

Research Interests:

In 2015, she was part of a team of writers where she shared her experience as a scholar and as an English teacher. As a result, her learnings have been published in her first book “Approaches to EFL teaching: Curriculum, culture, instruction, assessment, & technology 5.” In 2016, she presented at the first ECUATESOL convention

“Celebrating Change: Revaluing the English Teaching Profession.” It has helped her to motivate English teachers to integrate authentic assessment strategies in their daily teaching. She is dedicated to learning and continuing education, and her research interests include EFL/ESL teaching and learning as well as curriculum and instruction
