Azam Soltani, Ph.D. Economic Geology, Applied Mineralogy-Geochemistry, Mineral Exploration

I am an assistant professor of Economic Geology in the School of Earth Sciences, Energy and Environment at the Yachay Tech, Ecuador. With a background in hard-rock petrology and economic geology, I have expertise in applied mineralogy, geochemistry, as well as analytical methods. I favors inter-disciplinary analytical approaches, experimental, and geochemical modeling to discover fingerprints of geological processes recorded in metamorphic and magmatic regions as well as ore-deposition districts via examining the variable textural, geochemical, geochronological, and isotopic signatures in rocks and minerals. I combine different tools and techniques to generate results from the field to the lab. My key interest is utilizing micro-analytical methods, including EPMA, SEM-EDS, LA-ICP-MS, SIMS, etc. via methodology development, refinement, innovative, and unconventional approaches in mineral geochemistry applicable in terrestrial and extraterrestrial research.

In addition, I started application of mineralogy and geochemistry in agriculture and soil science. This interdisciplinary field provides innovative approaches in small- and Large-scale farming.

My current research focus is Mineralization Systems of Ecuadorian Metallogenic Belts and in a bigger context South America. If you are interested in collaboration as well as visiting geological sites of Ecuador and surrounding countries, please send me an e-mail at asoltani@yachaytech.edu.ec
