Santiago Ballaz, Ph.D.

Biografía

Graduado en Ciencias Biológicas por la Universidad de Navarra (España) en 1989. Doctorado en Ciencias por la misma Universidad (1996). Profesor de la Universidad Pública de Navarra y de la UNED (España). Estancia postdoctoral en el Molecular and Behavioral Neuroscience Institute de la Universidad de Michigan (USA) con los prestigiosos profesores Stanley Watson y Huda Akil. Investigador del Centro de Patología Molecular de la Universidad de Lisboa (Portugal) y en el Departamento de Neurociencias del Centro de Investigación de Medicina Aplicada (España). Docente inaugural de la Universidad Yachay Tech desde octubre de 2014. Editor Asociado de Frontiers in Pharmacology.

 

Research Interests

Neuropsicofarmacología (desarrollo de nuevos fármacos para el tratamiento desórdenes psiquiátricos incluido adicción y neurodegenerativos como enfermedad de Parkinson), Neurotoxicidad in vitro de agroquímicos, pronóstico de enfermedades respiratorias asociadas al mal de altura como el edema pulmonar, diagnóstico de severidad de enfermedades infecciosas respiratorias como COVID-19 y neumonías adquiridas en la comunidad basados en análisis sanguíneos rutinarios.
