Biography

Mariela Fernanda Rodríguez Calvopiña was born in the city of Quito, Ecuador. She obtained a degree in Geology Engineering from the Central University of Ecuador (UCE) in 2011, to later pursue a master’s degree in Geology and Resource Management of Minerals by the International University of Andalucía in Huelva, Spain.

Professionally, she has 2 years of experience in mudlogging (Petrokem Logging Services) and 5 years of experience as an exploration geologist in Ecuador (Empresa Nacional Minera), having participated in the initial and advanced exploration of projects such as: Telimbela (Cu Porphyry), La Bonita (Cu-Au porphyry prospect), Tola Norte (Ferrotitaniferous sands) and alluvial gold exploitation in the Río Santiago Project.

In 2021, she decided to move to the city of Ibarra-Ecuador, where she began her work as a Research Professor in the Geology Career belonging to the School of Earth Sciences, Energy and Environment of Yachay Tech University were she teaches classes for Geology and Geology Laboratory.

Mariela is research focuses in Mineralogical characterization, Geology focused on the mining area, Petrography and Geochemistry.
