Biografía

After graduating from high school, Cristina had the desire to improve her English skills, so she traveled to the United Kingdom and studied English. During that period, she found out that teaching was what she wanted to do. In 2009, she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Applied Linguistics.  She later got a Diploma in Communicative Skills of the English Language and obtained her Master’s Degree in Higher Education and Education Management. In 2013, she was part of the Go-Teacher program and attended a training program in Kansas State University for nine months thanks to a scholarship sponsored by the Ecuadorian Ministry of Education. In 2015, she got a second scholarship funded by the Government of India and attended a course on Curriculum Design and Instructional Material Development in Chennai-India.  

Her background includes teaching experience in a Private Bilingual School as well as in a Public school in Ambato; she taught English Language at university level, and has also worked in the tourism sector.  

Having lived in three English speaking countries created an opportunity for her to improve her learning of both the English language and globalized culture. In August 2016, she applied for a teaching position at Yachay Tech and a couple of weeks later, she received an offer letter to become part of the English Language Program; thus, here she is, enjoying this opportunity and working enthusiastically in order to make a positive contribution to Yachay Tech.   

Summary of Interests

She is passionate about making a difference in the lives of people through teaching and willing to listen to and seek student and colleague feedback on all aspects of teaching. Her eventual career goal is to develop research on Bilingualism and English Language Learning. After being granted two scholarships funded by the Ecuadorian Government, she is now fully committed to contributing to the development of her country by inspiring students to become the leaders that Ecuador needs.
