Two YT teams will compete at the regional finals for Hult Prize

Hult Prize, one of the most important events for young entrepreneurs emerging from world universities, has come to Ecuador for the very first time this year. On January 21, 35 teams of entrepreneurs met at Yachay Tech University to present their projects before the jury in order to participate for three spots at the Regional Finals in Shanghai, Abu Dhabi, London, Boston and San Francisco. During that day, the jury chose three groups: , from Yachay Tech; Borderline, from ESPOCH, and Nutri-Aid, from ESPOL. Iyayku, whose members have been developing their project since 2015, seeks to provide a filter from ceramic and Moringa Oleifera seeds in order to come up with a solution for those who don’t have access to potable water in vulnerable communities.

Since Yachay Tech is an official Hult Prize campus, it will allow for another team to participate at the Regional Finals. PhyBioMed, a group of four 3 and 5-semester students will present their proposal for the creation of a global network for medical data to make medical information worldwide available, so if a patient is forced to leave their country, they can be treated in any other country without any problems.

Students from all over the world will present their ideas before the Foundation during the first week of March, at the regional challenges. If the Ecuadorian teams won in any of the 5 cities, Ecuador will go to the world finals in New York, in September, 2017.
