The Science Tunnel is now open at Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana

Max Planck Society’s museum was brought by Yachay Tech in collaboration with the German Embassy

On June 22, 2017, the Max Planck Science Tunnel was inaugurated at the building where the National Museum was installed, in Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana,. The objective of the itinerant museum is to socialize the latest scientific advances and it was brought by Yachay Tech University in close collaboration with the German Embassy and other institutions like the Ministry of Culture, Escuela Politécnica Nacional and Universidad San Francisco de Quito. The Science Tunnel will welcome visitors for the next two months.

This itinerant museum has 8 modules and it offers a vision of the latest work of the Max Planck Society, the most important group of research institutions in Germany. From the nanoworld to the universe, going through materials of the future, the human brain, life on earth and space and the challenges of the future. The Science Tunnel approaches the new research tendencies of the world and how they are going to shape the future.

The inaugural event counted with the participation of supporting institutions and the opening words of Carlos Castillo-Chavez, Rector of Yachay Tech University, as well as the highest Max Planck representatives, the Ministry of Culture and Sertecpec. Guests participated in the first guided tour through the Science Tunnel in Ecuador and were later invited to a final reception organized by the German Embassy.

The Science Tunnel is open to public from Wednesday to Sunday, from 9 am to 6 pm. Tickets are free for persons under the age of 18. Tickets for adults (18 and up) are 4 USD, while tickets for students, seniors, and persons with disabilities are 2 USD. Yachay Tech students, faculty and staff have free entrance if they carry their institutional or personal identification.
