YACHAY TECH AND UPEC SIGN COOPERATION AGREEMENTS TO ENHANCE RESEARCH AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Yachay Tech University signed inter-institutional cooperation agreements with UPEC (State Polytechnic University of Carchi), to carry out joint actions in research, community engagement and innovation that will allow for the transfer of knowledge and technology.

The formal event was attended by PhD, José María Lalama, Rector and President of the CIFI, the Supervisory and Institutional Strengthening Commission of Yachay Tech; Jorge Mina, PhD, Rector of the State Polytechnic University of Carchi, Teresa Sánchez, PhD, Vice-Chancellor of the UPEC, and deans of the two institutions, who took a tour of the Yachay Tech facilities.

José María Lalama, PhD, CIFI Rector and President of Yachay Tech, stated that: “It is an honor for Yachay to have the authorities of the State Polytechnic University of Carchi on our campus, even more so, when we know the trajectory of our institutions. This event is of great relevance and significance, as sister universities strengthen links to share science and research, which facilitate the transfer of knowledge and technology”.

The Rector-President of the CIFI highlighted the research and technological contingent that both institutions have and that will allow to diversify the academic offer.

Along these lines, Jorge Mina, PhD, Rector of the State Polytechnic University of Carchi, indicated that: “the signing of the agreements intends to constitute a coordinated and effective work between public universities, to optimize the resources provided by the State and develop collaborative work with exchange and mutual support projects that can benefit both parties”.

He added that the university plays an important role in the economic, social, political, scientific and cultural transformation of the country, by building knowledge, and concluded that: “Yachay Tech and UPEC started several projects that will multiply to exchange experiences and knowledge, through our faculty and students. The commitments made will allow us to visualize different horizons”.

This way, the two higher education institutions join collaborative efforts through joint activities aimed at academic and professional training for the development of science, technology, innovation, research; pre-professional practices, community service projects and development of degree works, with a view to advancing knowledge in all common areas of institutional purposes and interests.

Lastly, the signing of these agreements with UPEC will allow Yachay Tech to continue with the institutionalization process through technology transfer and the installation of the operating system and database on Yachay servers for the hosting of the telematic voting platform developed by UPEC. This data transfer tool will be established as part of the future electoral process that Yachay Tech has planned.
