The University went from third to first place since the beginning of 2019.

The results of the last Nature Index Ranking places Yachay Tech University first in Ecuador, despite having only 5 years of existence and graduate programs in development. This ranking takes into account data from scientific publications from April 2018 and March 2019. Previously, the University was placed third in the annual table that takes into account the publications from 2018. The ranking is based on the number of articles published in a group of 68 scientific journals of high prestige and on the participation of each institution in the authorship of said article.

Nature Index reveals much of the value of the first-rate research work done by researchers who live in the country. This is because it analyzes the number of institutions participating in each publication as the main qualification criteria. This is important because taking part in an outstanding publication with many authors from different institutions does not have the same impact as making a high-impact publication with only one institution.

This year, Yachay Tech reached the first place with publications in Earth Sciences, mainly. The University shares this mention with other important Ecuadorian universities such as Escuela Politécnica Nacional and Escuela Politécnica del Litoral, who’ve been around for over 140 years and 59 years, respectively. Escuela Politécnica Nacional was ranked second and Escuela Politécnica del Litoral was ranked third. This is an achievement for all faculty, students and administrative staff of Yachay Tech University and for research in Ecuador.
