The LIFE SCIENCE YT CONGRESS 2022 congress was held in the facilities of the former Hacienda San José of the Yachay Tech University, organized by the School of Biological Sciences and Engineering and the members of the different student associations of the Biology and Biomedical Engineering majors of Yachay Tech.

Lenín Ramírez, PhD., Dean of the School of Biological Sciences and Engineering (ECBI), stated his pride and highlighted the extraordinary task carried out by the students in organizing this event, whose purpose is to make visible the research, degree and community engagement projects in which students work under the guidance of professors and researchers.

“LIFE SCIENCE YT CONGRESS 2022” was born as a joint project between the School of Biological Sciences and Engineering (ECBI), the Yachay Tech Biology and Biomedical Engineering Student Association (ASOBIB-YT) and the IEEE Student Chapter – EMBS Yachay Tech, to create a space for the dissemination of knowledge and research directed towards society, seeking to become a national and international benchmark.

The event took place over two days in which visitors, from the different cantons of the province of Imbabura, were able to observe, learn about and participate in the event by attending oral presentations and poster-type exhibitions on topics related to the fields of biomedical engineering and biomedicine, microbiology, ecology, conservation and ecosystem services, cell biology, molecular biology and genetics.

Wilman Andrade, ECBI student and event participant, presented his project “Chemical synthesis and characterization of monothiadiazine, and its evaluation of the humoral response in Balb” that seeks to improve the chemical synthesis of mono-derivatives of thiadiazine and evaluate their effects on Immunity treatments against malaria caused by the Plasmodium parasite.

In addition to the main event, a mini fair was held for groups, clubs and student associations related to the ECBI, including stands of the Life Science YT sponsors.

In this way, Yachay Tech University shows its commitment to the community by providing information on the different projects and works carried out in the fields of biology and biomedicine.
